Balmes Apartment · Barcelona

Interior Design Project for Ecohabitats Arquitectura i Construcció

A typical Eixample apartment in Barcelona originally opened onto both sides of the building: the interior courtyard of the block and the exterior façade facing C/ Balmes. At the time of the intervention, the property had been divided into two separate rental units.

The project involved merging both units into a single apartment, creating a much more open and fluid layout with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen connected to the dining area, an entrance hall, a laundry room, and a closed terrace.

All original hydraulic mosaic flooring was preserved and restored, one of the most valuable features of Eixample apartments, along with the original ceiling mouldings.
