Bulky Gym was a boutique fitness studio opened in central Barcelona in 2019, fully dedicated to strength training, with no group classes or additional activities beyond weightlifting.

The concept drew inspiration from the United States and its approach to fitness spaces designed as immersive environments — places that encourage full focus and disconnection from the outside world. This was translated into a dark, atmospheric interior, articulated through a strong contrast of light and shadow achieved with strategically placed overhead lighting.

The lighting design was conceived to enhance the perception of movement and form, creating a sculptural reading of the athletes’ bodies within the space. This approach made the gym a distinctive project within the Barcelona fitness scene and led to collaborations with international brands such as BioTech, which organised a global influencer photoshoot in the space. Subtle gold accents were introduced as part of the brand identity, reinforcing the exclusive character of the concept.
